Screenshot for Symbian OS version 2.80!
Screenshot August 12th. 2007, 11:15pmAfter writing about my decision of not to develop Screenshot for Symbian OS further, I have received some comments from fellow bloggers or developers. Unfortunately, there is still no help from Symbian.
Recently, someone from Epocware sent an email to me. He said that he can help me signing my application. Wow, that’s good news. So, I sent him my application. Surprisingly, one day later, she sent my application back. It is a signed application! Here is the certificate information that is used by Epocware to sign my application.
Primary:
Issued by Symbian.
Issued to f3c961139a1c755c92afde01f4ef8e9e.
Valid from 10/08/2007 to 09/08/2017.
Issued by VeriSign Testing-Based ACS Root for Symbian OS.
Issued to Symbian Limited.
Valid from 13/10/2003 to 27/08/2023.
Thanks a lot to Epocware. You have saved my life. ![]()

HA! I literally *just* self-signed this version for my N95 last night. Crazy. So does this mean that you’re going to keep developing Screenshot afterall? I’d like to submit 2 feature requests:
1. Ability to scroll through taken screenshots in the app and send. Currently you can send the most recent, but if I’ve taken more than just one, I have to navigate through the file system. Would be easier if I could do it straight from the app
2. I haven’t tested if this works on 2.8 yet, but the ability to take screenshots of the outer screen of a flip device would be awesome, specially for bloggers.

@Ricky: I’ll be working on version 3.0 as soon as I have time. There were a lot of requests for UIQ 3 support.
Just to let you know, Epocware actually pays for the cost of signing. So, I really owe them for this.

Congratulations Antony, you are wonderful Epocware, and shame on you Symbian, shame.
The site I write for does a lot to promote the Symbian platform, and we need software like Screenshot to do our job of reviewing Symbian software from all publishers, big and small. We\’re obviously not the only Symbian site that uses it. It\’s almost unbelievable the way Symbian have treated Screenshot and its author, and hopefully this kind of situation won\’t be repeated.

So actually, there\\\’s no way to sign (quickly and for free) your mobile application on S60 3rd edition in order to get rid of annoying permission messages ?
I\\\’d like to test my application, a midlet written in J2ME, and I\\\’m getting tired of messages asking the user to confirm GPS use and reading/writing of locally stored files.
My open source project is currently in work in progress, and I\\\’d like to test that the signed app allows to get rid of permissions.
Antony, I guess Epocware has made a favor to you because Screenshot is well-known, but it\\\’s not that easy when you\\\’re releasing an open source project for the first time.
Good new, though.

@Daimonji: You are right. Currently the process of getting Symbian Signed is very painful. I’ve been trying to push this issue to Symbian. Hope that they listen to us.
