Nokia Software Updater Stops Working
Life June 6th. 2007, 11:15pmI am just started back to my “real life” this week after a long vacation. Unfortunately, the first problem came. I couldn’t launch my Nokia Software Updater. I just updated the software to the latest version, 1.3.71, and finally it stops working. I have two computers and it fails on both of them. Each time I launch Nokia Software Updater, it shows the splash dialog (see screenshot below) then exits.
I haven’t had time yet to dig forum discussions and blog postings to find out more information about this. Does anyone have the same experience?
Oh yes, forgot to mention. I have Windows XP SP2 with the latest patches. The previous version of Nokia Software Updater works fine for me (around 3 weeks ago). Only after I updated to the latest one, it stops working.
Update (13-Jun-07): Finally, I solved the problem by reformatting my hard drive.

I’ve had this issue with all versions and I discovered that there are too many NSU processes running at the same time. Kill all instances of nsu_ui_client.exe and nsl_host_process.exe in a task manager and try restarting the Updater and it should work again. I hope this trick works for you too.

I even faced the same problem and so I called one of my friend to solve it as soon as possible. She\’ll be coming within few days.

@R2: Unfortunately I don’t have a process called nsu_ui_client.exe or nsl_host_process.exe.
@narosia: Please let me know if you are able to solve the problem.

I was facing the same problem some month ago! So I decided not to run the Updater since then!!! It works, because if you do not open it… there will be no problem. By the way, the previous version was working fine to me too.
I guess there should be a bug or something. Nokia will probably fix it as soon as possible.

Finally I fix the problem by reformatting my hard drive….

If Nokia Software Updater doesn’t work on Vista you need to turn off User Account Control from Control Panel>User Account>Turn User Account Control on or off then restart your machine.
This worked for me and I hope it works for you too.

Hey, I had a similiar problem - downloaded the latest version and it would not start. Once I disabled my firewall and anti-virus it worked - think the program was trying to connect to the internet on start up and couldn’t, but my firewall program didnt alert me.

This has got nothing to do with this topic, but it is related to the nokia software updater. When i was updating my nokia 6680, i accidentally disconnected the phone and now my phone wouldn’t even on. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

I had same problem with my Nokia N73 on Windows Vista of curse. When I turned off User Account Control, I was able to run application no problem and I was very happy about it.
Today with same system some two weeks later I bought Nokia N95 and wanted to do the same. No help. I turned User Account Control off but it just doesn’t help. Aplication still wont run.
System: Windows Vista Business, latest updates (21.07.2007)
Nokia PC Suite: 6.84.10.3
Nokia Software Update: 1.3.85
Any idea??!

@Verona69: Honestly, I didn’t manage to solve the problem. I reformatted my Windows and problem went away. I think there is something in the registry that prevents Nokia Software Updater to start. Unfortunately, I don’t know what this is.

hi, dis\\\’s rampravesh here and i have nokia 6681.my phone is hanged completely,i want to update my firmware (presently 5.37 i have).i have vista 64 bit,but nokia software updter 1.3.85 not works on it.can anyone tell me its solution ??
i have tried to update through my friends laptop having xp sp-2, and that works there fine but doesnt work on vista properly.
nsu starts detecting phone but not more than that….
can anyone tell me nsu solution for vista 64 bit please tell me.

hello guys do you have the link where i can download the upgrade patch of NSU the one that is mentioned above(latest one) and does anybody knows if i can flash my n70 with out a sim card using NSU, because the phone it self is not accepting any SIM at the moment even the sim where it was locked, the phone is locked in 3mobile network australia….tnx in a million!!!

@bluerain76: Unfortunately, there is no patch for the problem above. I had to re-install my Windows to make it working.
